Prior Events

  • AAR - event went well, good engagement, cookies as prizes
  • Some attendees felt lost; it was a lot for a pure beginner
  • Make known that attendees can build skills
  • Add a 10-minute rehearsal before the event

Reviews

  • Norwich competition team selection - two teams of three going to Norwich; need flight info; won’t hear anything until September 1st
  • DoE team selection this week - competition team subcommittee selection; institute handling travel; may be able to bring two teams; application is still open

Committee Reviews

  • Goldrush in February - goal this year is SMC only, in person
  • Info needed by end of September for further discussion
  • Discuss hosting Goldrush as SMC only
  • Story-driven competition; looking for VM creation, storyboarding, and forensics challenges
  • Make teams as small as possible to get more UNG students competing
  • Day-and-a-half competition with instructional conferences/seminars

New Business

  • Student Institute Worker application ends today, 08/14/26 - 8 applicants, 2 positions open
  • Motion to change the Student Presenter role to come with additional benefits:
    • Role originally required having a presentation subject ready every semester
    • Students in the role would be guaranteed one travel competition per year
    • Application may move to a semester-to-semester basis
    • Proposed limit of 3–5 presenters
  • Member returning to CyberHawks - general body meetings only, not able to compete
    • Probation for the member in question, possible return for spring competition
    • Discussion of a formalized punishment system
    • Reinstate and monitor
